Let's go back to the start!!

How did you become a fan of the Harry Potter series? Did you start reading the books from the beginning? Did word of mouth make you curious and you read the lastest book out then start the series from the beginning? Or did the movies entice you to want to read the series? Let us know how and when you became "obsessed" with Harry Potter!

I became obsessed with the Harry Potter series after reading the first book. I then had my sister read the Sorcerer's Stone and she became hooked too! We enjoy the films as much as the books and are sad that the series will come to an end this summer with the publication of Deathly Hallows. To console herself my sister has begun to read the series again from the beginning, this time in French!

For a while I was a Harry Potter hold out. I didn't want to read it because just about everyone else was. But, I'm glad I gave in and read it. Rowling has certainly created a great story and I can't wait to find out how it all ends.

My story about how I came to our favorite teen hero is a very interesting one. We (my parents and I) were looking for anew bike for me. as we walked out of the store (bikeless, but we did find one outside of the store) i passed a bookshelf. I saw SS on the shelf. Before, I thought Harry Potter was a fad and I didn't think much of it. But at the store I felt a sudden inspiration. I asked my mom and dad ,"Can I get that?" They said ,"Sure." Now they realize how one simple word could change into an obsession. Well, that's my story. Bye!

I was teaching in 1997 and bought the book immediately after all of the "buzz!" After I finished it, I was hooked and told everyone I knew about this well-written book...it's not just for kids..adults eat them up also!

My sister had read all of the harry potter books that were out and tried to convince me to read them. However, it wasn't until my class started listening to book 1 on tape that I really became interested. I bought the book and read ahead! This was all before everyone else starting reading the books or else I would not have read them. I hate to do things just because everyone else does. But these books really deserved the credit they got! J.K. Rowling is an awesome writer who has created an amazing world!

I did the same thing as Utica Town Folk! I held out to "go against the grain." I tried to begin the first chapter and I hated it. Then, a year later, I tried again and couldn't put books 1-4 down! Then I read 5 & 6 while in college! I love the HP books now!
